lynne butt

profile

Lynne inherited an early love of needlework and the creative arts from her mother who was a keen dressmaker. Growing up she explored a number of disciplines and ways of working, including pottery, knitting, collage and crochet; and was constantly dabbling in new mediums, and exploring the properties of new materials and their aesthetic values and potential for self-expression.

Lynne's adventurous approach and interest in trying her hand at new ways of working have led her most recently to adopt digital photography and electronic image manipulation; which she has combined with more traditional art-forms to create some unique, dynamic and highly personal work.

The conflict between the man-made and natural environment is the main source of inspiration behind Lynne's work, and consequently her pieces often feature flowing organic shapes, colours and textures juxtaposed against much more rigid, angular and mechanical motifs - much like her mixed media approach to the realisation of her ideas.
