marie-ghislaine beaucé

profile

Marie-Ghislaine was fascinated with textiles from an early age, and at 12 years old her ambition was to become a fashion designer; she then learned the first steps of sewing with her mother.

Whilst a student in a technical college, she was advised by the design teacher to enter an art school, where she experimented with weaving various materials like hemp, lengths of 8 mm film, ribbon cut from fabric and painted cardboard tubes.

After spending many years working in soft furnishing, her passion for textiles brought her again, as a contemporary textile artist, to create panels made from weaving soft furnishing fabrics with layers of abstract shapes of knitting or crochet-work.

Her interest in architecture can be detected in the design and structure of her work.
