The members of the Phoenix Contemporary Textile Group are lively, like-minded textile artists working in diverse methods and media: stitch, cloth, paper, felt, dye and paint.

Each artist works within their chosen medium, producing small and large pieces of work. Their goal is to explore their own creativity, to be challenged and to push the boundaries of what is perceived.  In today’s world of mass production it is important that artists are given the opportunity and freedom to explore and express their own individual ideas in a creative way.

The group was formed in 1992 and meets once a month in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, to pursue their own work and to offer encouragement, help and advice to one another. By sharing their love of textiles, they look to highlight, educate and to promote interest in this versatile medium.
