Robertta’s childhood fascination with fabrics and stitching evolved, into a passion for hand embroidery.

Today a constant source of inspiration is the beauty and variety found in the natural world, with a focus on the excitement of colour and texture.

The development of her sketchbooks, the exploration of different materials, machine embroidery and print has brought stimulus and direction to Robertta’s work

On-site sketching and photography are employed as a starting point to interpret nature and the impact of history on the landscape. Needle and thread, layers of sheer fabrics, paint and paper, are used to ‘draw and paint’ finished pieces.
