The members of Phoenix Contemporary Textiles meet up on the first Saturday of each month. We have a meeting in the morning and after lunch there is usually an activity organised by one of the members. Earlier this year we took inspiration from the work of Lena Forrester: https://www.instagram.com/

Linda and Kate working on their designs

A very pleasant afternoon was spent drawing and making marks with waterproof ink pens and watercolour paints

We found it helped to warm the paper with a hairdryer before removing the tape

Also interesting marks were left on the removed tape

We decided that the sheets had more impact as a whole piece

Colourful cheery results on a chilly day
For our second session we decided to go bigger and messier using acrylic paint and Ink.

Definitely messier!

We used silicon scrapers to push paint around

The masking tape proved hard to remove neatly and the paper was damaged, but as these are just sketchbook pieces it’s not such a problem.

Rosaline’s sheet in black and white …..

….. and with colour added.

The sheets were cut up …..

….. with some delightful results.
