Over the past few months, we have been having ‘Phoenix Printing Play Sessions’ in the afternoons after our monthly meetings.
We wanted to experiment with printing techniques which can be done at home with mainly household and craft equipment, and we realised that between us we had quite a lot of equipment all bought from charity shops and never used.
On our first play date we brought in two pasta machines, a Sissix Big Shot and a gelli plate to play with.
We had seen videos on social media and YouTube showing how these items could be used for printmaking so we came armed with notes and printouts from the internet, along with our printing equipment, materials and printing plates made from tetrapak from disused cartons.
Overall we were successful and after a couple of failed attempts, we managed to achieve some great results.
These playdays are a great way to share your skills with others and practice new techniques as a group. As they say many heads are better than one.
